Surface Treatment

Every JeanElton piece is finished in one of three Surface Treatment families. The family tells you what carries the visual interest — the form itself, the color, or the line.

Pure Form. The form itself carries the entire visual interest. The piece is read through its shape and proportion rather than its applied pattern or color treatment.

Bold Color. Saturated color and pattern make surface decoration the dominant element of the piece.

Line & Form. Deliberate linear marks — incisions, applied lines, directional strokes — define the visual structure of the piece. Restraint in the palette; the drawing does the work.

Within each family, the JeanElton artist works in a range of specific treatments, each with its own character and technique. These are named on the individual piece pages, and you can browse by them using the Surface Treatment filter.
