Where dusk pools into a single shore
An EllipticalBowl finished in a Metallic Line & Form surface treatment, in a Gold & Metallic color palette. 5 inches tall, 16 inches wide, 14 inches deep, weighing 4 pounds, with a gloss interior and a gloss exterior. Line & Form pieces use deliberate linear marks — incisions, applied lines, or directional strokes — to define the visual structure of the piece.

The Story of the Work
A low, open vessel holds the quiet drama of two worlds meeting. The outer wall descends in deep, smoky bronze, while the interior opens into a warm wash of gilded light, as though the bowl were catching the last of the sun against a darkening horizon. The asymmetry of the rim lends a gentle restlessness, an organic dip that keeps the eye moving, and the gradation from shadowed exterior to luminous center feels less applied than discovered, the artist coaxing the surface toward its natural temperature rather than dictating it.
This work belongs to the JeanElton EllipticalBowl collection, where the softly warped oval and shallow, expansive sweep of the form give each piece its sense of arrested motion. The undulating rim resists perfect symmetry, allowing the bowl to read differently from every angle, and the broad interior plane becomes a stage for the play of metallic light across its surface.
The work is fired first to approximately 1800 degrees F, after which any remaining fine alterations are made, and the surface treatment is applied by hand by the artist. A second firing to about 2100 degrees F completes the process, ensuring its durability and artistic integrity.
This piece bears the JeanElton signature on its underside and comes with a Certificate of Authenticity (COA), both of which display its catalogue reference.
