Where molten light meets a torn horizon
An EllipticalBowl finished in a Metallic Line & Form surface treatment, in a Gold & Metallic color palette. 4 inches tall, 16 inches wide, 14 inches deep, weighing 4 pounds, with a gloss interior and a gloss exterior. Line & Form pieces use deliberate linear marks — incisions, applied lines, or directional strokes — to define the visual structure of the piece.

The Story of the Work
A burnished copper surface catches and holds the light, its warm metallic sheen shifting from luminous bronze at the center to deeper, shadowed earth tones along the curve. The rim breaks into a jagged, rhythmic edge, a torn coastline of sharp peaks and valleys that interrupts the calm sweep of the vessel with restless energy. A single open aperture pierces the wall, a deliberate void that draws the eye and lets light pass through, suggesting tide pools and the play of sun on weathered metal. The interplay of polished reflection and matte patina gives the piece a quiet tension between the molten and the still.
This work belongs to the JeanElton EllipticalBowl collection, where the gently warped, elongated form opens into a wide, shallow basin. The serrated rim is the defining gesture here, each peak hand-shaped to create a continuous, irregular crown that reads differently from every angle. The pierced opening and the subtle elliptical warping reinforce the signature dialogue of the collection between structure and spontaneity, sculptural mass and openness.
The work is fired first to approximately 1800 degrees F, after which any remaining fine alterations are made, and the surface treatment is applied by hand by the artist. A second firing to about 2100 degrees F completes the process, ensuring its durability and artistic integrity.
This piece bears the JeanElton signature on its underside and comes with a Certificate of Authenticity (COA), both of which display its catalogue reference.
