Prismatic Mesh weaves color and geometry into an intricate visual tapestry that rewards sustained contemplation. A complex network of intersecting lines creates a mesh-like structure across the surface, with each resulting cell filled with a different hue—warm golds, rich blues, deep greens, and vibrant reds create a prismatic effect that seems to refract light into its component parts. The overall impression is of stained glass translated into ceramic, where the leading of the mesh organizes the chromatic abundance into a coherent, endlessly fascinating whole.
This work belongs to the JeanElton OvalVase Collection, distinguished by its elliptical footprint and the gentle warping that creates asymmetrical curves when viewed from different angles. The intricate mesh pattern interacts with the form's curvature to create subtle optical effects, with the geometric grid gently warping as it travels around the vessel's contours, adding a dimensional richness to the already complex surface.
The work is fired first to approximately 1800 degrees F, after which any remaining fine alterations are made, and the surface treatment is applied by hand by the artist. A second firing to about 2100 degrees F completes the process, ensuring its durability and artistic integrity.
