Calder Mobile Tribute IV
A light and airy tribute to the master of mobiles.
An OvalVase finished in a Restrained & Open Line & Form surface treatment, in a Multi-Color / Cream color palette. 9 inches tall, 7 inches wide, 3 inches deep, weighing 3 pounds, with a matte interior and a matte exterior. Line & Form pieces use deliberate linear marks — incisions, applied lines, or directional strokes — to define the visual structure of the piece.

The Story of the Work
Calder Mobile Tribute IV distills the playful dynamism of Alexander Calder's visual vocabulary into a compact ceramic form. Bold concentric circles and radiating lines in primary reds, blues, and yellows punctuate the cream surface like the weighted elements of a tabletop stabile, each shape precisely placed yet vibrating with implied movement. The intimate scale concentrates the graphic energy, creating a dense field of geometric interplay where every brushstroke carries the decisive confidence of Calder's own wire-bending hand.
This work belongs to the JeanElton OvalVase Collection, distinguished by its elliptical footprint and the gentle warping that creates asymmetrical curves when viewed from different angles. The compact proportions of this piece give the bold Calder-inspired motifs an intensified visual presence, with the form's curvature wrapping the composition into a continuous panorama of color and shape.
The work is fired first to approximately 1800 degrees F, after which any remaining fine alterations are made, and the surface treatment is applied by hand by the artist. A second firing to about 2100 degrees F completes the process, ensuring its durability and artistic integrity.
This piece bears the JeanElton signature on its underside and comes with a Certificate of Authenticity (COA), both of which display its catalogue reference.
