A light and airy tribute to the master of mobiles.
A Featured-scale OvalVase finished in a Restrained & Open Line & Form surface treatment, in a Multi-Color / Cream color palette. 15 inches tall, 7 inches wide, 4 inches deep, weighing 5 pounds, with a matte interior and a matte exterior. The Story of the Work
Calder Mobile Tribute III expands the series' exploration of kinetic balance, arranging its geometric vocabulary across the vessel's surface with the carefully calibrated asymmetry of a mobile caught mid-rotation. Bold circular forms in saturated reds and blues anchor the composition while slender lines and angular shapes create visual connections between them, suggesting the invisible wires and counterweights that hold Calder's suspended works in their delicate equilibrium. The interplay of heavy and light, dense and airy, creates a visual rhythm that keeps the eye in constant, pleasurable motion.
This work belongs to the JeanElton OvalVase Collection, distinguished by its elliptical footprint and the gentle warping that creates asymmetrical curves when viewed from different angles. The form's curvature adds a spatial dimension to the Calder-inspired composition, causing geometric elements to shift in relationship to one another as the viewer moves around the piece, much as a mobile's elements realign with every passing breeze.
The work is fired first to approximately 1800 degrees F, after which any remaining fine alterations are made, and the surface treatment is applied by hand by the artist. A second firing to about 2100 degrees F completes the process, ensuring its durability and artistic integrity.
This piece bears the JeanElton signature on its underside and comes with a Certificate of Authenticity (COA), both of which display its catalogue reference.
