The Story of the Work
Tuber Garden at Noon b immerses the viewer in a sun-drenched underwater landscape where bulbous organic forms press outward from a richly saturated ground. Warm yellows and golden tones dominate the palette, evoking the intensity of midday light filtering through shallow water onto a garden of tubers and aquatic growth. The composition teems with rounded, protuberant shapes that seem to pulse with biological energy, each form nudging against its neighbor in a vivid display of proliferation and vitality.
This work belongs to the JeanElton OvalVase Collection, distinguished by its elliptical footprint and the gentle warping that creates asymmetrical curves when viewed from different angles. The unusual proportions of this piece—narrow in width yet deep from front to back—create an intimate, almost book-like presentation that draws the viewer in close to discover the dense underwater narrative painted across its surfaces.
The work is fired first to approximately 1800 degrees F, after which any remaining fine alterations are made, and the surface treatment is applied by hand by the artist. A second firing to about 2100 degrees F completes the process, ensuring its durability and artistic integrity.
This piece bears the JeanElton signature on its underside and comes with a Certificate of Authenticity (COA), both of which display its catalogue reference.
