The Story of the Work
Veranda Breeze is a contemplative work in the JeanElton OvalVase (OV) Collection, drawing its elegance from the quiet equilibrium of verticality and softness. With a tall, stately form and gently fluted rim, it evokes the easy calm of a shaded porch on a warm afternoon—where nothing moves but the breeze and time itself seems to stretch.
The exterior surface is dressed in soft lime with crisp, whisper-thin stripes in sky blue and cloud pink running its height. The arrangement of these stripes—carefully hand-applied—gives the piece a tailored grace, like a finely pressed summer fabric. Their parallel rhythm plays against the gentle undulation of the rim, a contrast that subtly animates the form without disturbing its composure.
Inside, a matte wash of cerulean offers a vivid yet grounded surprise—echoing the suggestion of open skies glimpsed through the slats of a porch. The interplay between exterior and interior color fields, both finished in matte, deepens the tactile intimacy of the work and invites repeated viewing from every angle.
The work is fired first to approximately 1800 degrees F, after which any remaining fine alterations are made, and the surface treatment is applied by hand by the artist. A second firing to about 2100 degrees F completes the process, ensuring its durability and artistic integrity.
This piece bears the JeanElton signature on its underside and comes with a Certificate of Authenticity (COA), both of which display its catalogue reference.
