A Compact-scale OvalVase finished in a Restrained Palette Line & Form surface treatment, in a Neutral & Earth color palette. 13 inches tall, 7 inches wide, 5 inches deep, weighing 4 pounds, with a matte interior and a matte exterior. The Story of the Work
Shadow Glyph II is a sculptural meditation in the JeanElton OvalVase (OV) Collection. At 13 inches tall, this piece distills the language of its design into a more intimate scale, with sharp-angled shapes scattered across a matte surface like fragments of a thought half-remembered. The punctured portals—each cut with intention—break the visual rhythm, encouraging closer inspection and casting small pools of light through the vessel’s body.
The white and slate-gray palette is serene and elemental, while the asymmetrical top edge adds a spontaneous, almost lyrical note to the composition. This piece rewards slow looking and offers an ever-changing experience depending on lighting and perspective.
The work is fired first to approximately 1800 degrees F, after which any remaining fine alterations are made, and the surface treatment is applied by hand by the artist. A second firing to about 2100 degrees F completes the process, ensuring its durability and artistic integrity.
This piece bears the JeanElton signature on its underside and comes with a Certificate of Authenticity (COA), both of which display its catalogue reference.
