Solar Radiance

Where flame and pigment collide! SolarRadiance is a meditative work in the JeanElton OvalVase (OV) Collection. This striking piece bursts with molten energy—fiery crimsons, luminous yellows, and deep umber tones surge across the surface in a storm of movement and color. At closer glance, a constellation of geometric textures, layered glazes, and hand-drawn triangular motifs emerge, offering both rhythm and spontaneity. The result is a visual narrative that hints at heat, light, and transformation—evocative of solar flares caught mid-eruption.

Created using a printer’s roller to distribute custom glaze blends across its tall, slightly tapering form, SolarRadiance is further enriched by detailed surface interventions added by hand. Both the exterior and interior are finished in matte, inviting the eye to linger and the light to play gently across the surface.

The work is fired first to approximately 1800 degrees F, after which any remaining fine alterations are made, and the surface treatment is applied by hand by the artist. A second firing to about 2100 degrees F completes the process, ensuring its durability and artistic integrity.

This piece bears the JeanElton signature on its underside and comes with a Certificate of Authenticity (COA), both of which display its catalogue reference.
