The Story of the Work
This work belongs to the JeanElton OvalVase Collection, distinguished by its elliptical cross-section that creates an elegant, softened silhouette. The form's subtle warping transforms what would be a simple cylinder into a more organic, sculptural presence.
Luminous Forest brings that form alive with deep teal, cobalt blue, and chartreuse — layered and scattered across the surface in a rhythm that shifts with every angle. Flashes of coral-red geometry emerge and disappear as the piece turns, like sunlight breaking through a living canopy. With hand-applied glaze and two firings, every inch is intentional — and no two views are the same.
The work is fired first to approximately 1800 degrees F, after which any remaining fine alterations are made, and the surface treatment is applied by hand by the artist. A second firing to about 2100 degrees F completes the process, ensuring its durability and artistic integrity.
This piece bears the JeanElton signature on its underside and comes with a Certificate of Authenticity (COA), both of which display its catalogue reference.
