Yellow Submarine

Yellow Submarine is a vividly immersive work in the JeanElton PalmVessel (PV) Collection. Its elongated form becomes a window into ocean depths, densely populated with hand-painted sea life — fish, coral formations, and sinuous aquatic plants rendered in brilliant yellows, deep blues, and tropical greens. The narrow vessel stretches the underwater scene across nearly three feet, giving the composition a cinematic panoramic quality. The dark exterior recedes like deep water, framing the interior as a luminous reef glimpsed from above.

What gives this piece its remarkable presence is the sweeping form of the PalmVessel — a shape inspired by a palm frond collected in Naples, Florida, and translated into clay through a specially designed mold. Stretching nearly three feet from tip to tip while rising just a few inches from the surface, the vessel commands attention through sheer proportion: it is long, low, and unmistakably botanical in origin. The form turns any table, shelf, or console into a landscape, drawing the eye along its full length the way a frond draws the eye toward the light.

The work is fired first to approximately 1800 degrees F, after which any remaining fine alterations are made, and the surface treatment is applied by hand by the artist. A second firing to about 2100 degrees F completes the process, ensuring its durability and artistic integrity.

This piece bears the JeanElton signature on its underside and comes with a Certificate of Authenticity (COA), both of which display its catalogue reference.
