Desert Streams

Whispers of water: Desert Streams is a meditative work in the JeanElton SailVase (SV) Collection. Soft, painterly strokes in muted olive and deep blue sweep and splatter across a warm desert-toned surface, suggesting the fleeting passage of water over arid terrain. The piece carries the visual language of both stillness and motion, balancing fluid gestures with the grounded poise of its form.

Both the exterior and interior are finished in a soft matte, further enhancing the organic, earthen quality of the work. The quiet interplay of shape, surface, and texture creates a harmonious tension—evocative of seasonal creeks, rain-fed swells, and the quiet resilience of desert landscapes.

The work is fired first to approximately 1800 degrees F, after which any remaining fine alterations are made, and the surface treatment is applied by hand by the artist. A second firing to about 2100 degrees F completes the process, ensuring its durability and artistic integrity.

This piece bears the JeanElton signature on its underside and comes with a Certificate of Authenticity (COA), both of which display its catalogue reference.
