Signal Array
Echoes of invisible transmissions
A Featured-scale SailVase finished in an Open Space Line & Form surface treatment, in a Multi-Color / Cream color palette. 18 inches tall, 14 inches wide, 4 inches deep, weighing 6 pounds, with a semi-matte interior and a matte exterior. Line & Form pieces use deliberate linear marks — incisions, applied lines, or directional strokes — to define the visual structure of the piece.
The Story of the Work
Echoes of invisible transmissions: Signal Array is a striking work in the JeanElton SailVase (SV) Collection. With bold diagonals, layered grids, and graphic arcs rendered in matte red, cobalt, chartreuse, and black, the surface pulses with the energy of unseen systems—an abstract translation of movement, connection, and coded language.
The creamy white matte background gives visual clarity and contrast to the surface treatment, enhancing the suggestion of transmission paths or rhythmic signals bouncing across planes. Its clean geometry and slight asymmetry contribute to the illusion of motion—a visual interplay between analog signals and digital abstraction. The interior, also matte, maintains the same quiet restraint, ensuring the focus remains on the intricate yet disciplined language of the design.
The work is fired first to approximately 1800 degrees F, after which any remaining fine alterations are made, and the surface treatment is applied by hand by the artist. A second firing to about 2100 degrees F completes the process, ensuring its durability and artistic integrity.
This piece bears the JeanElton signature on its underside and comes with a Certificate of Authenticity (COA), both of which display its catalogue reference.
