Mosaic Labyrinth

Mosaic Labyrinth invites the eye into a dense, intricate world of geometric pattern where every turn reveals a new combination of color and form. Tiny squares, triangles, and diamonds in jewel tones of ruby, emerald, sapphire, and amber tessellate across the dark ground in an arrangement that suggests both ancient mosaic tradition and contemporary complexity. Pathways of pattern wind through the composition, offering the viewer multiple routes through a chromatic maze that rewards patient exploration.

This work belongs to the JeanElton SailVase Collection, distinguished by its dramatically undulating rim and sculptural silhouette that transforms the vessel into a gesture of movement. The form's organic sail-like profile amplifies the surface design's horizontal energy, creating a dialogue between shape and decoration.

The work is fired first to approximately 1800 degrees F, after which any remaining fine alterations are made, and the surface treatment is applied by hand by the artist. A second firing to about 2100 degrees F completes the process, ensuring its durability and artistic integrity.
