Jeweled Palace II

Jeweled Palace II extends the palatial vision of its predecessor with even greater scale and ambition. Bold bands of red and black frame zones of intricate geometric patterning, creating an architectural rhythm of pillar and mosaic. The interplay between broad structural stripes and densely packed decorative fields gives the surface a monumental quality, as though the vessel were a fragment of some magnificent tiled facade discovered in a forgotten quarter of the world.

This work belongs to the JeanElton SailVase Collection, distinguished by its dramatically undulating rim and sculptural silhouette that transforms the vessel into a gesture of movement. The form's organic sail-like profile amplifies the surface design's horizontal energy, creating a dialogue between shape and decoration.

The work is fired first to approximately 1800 degrees F, after which any remaining fine alterations are made, and the surface treatment is applied by hand by the artist. A second firing to about 2100 degrees F completes the process, ensuring its durability and artistic integrity.
