Willow Moon

Willow Moon is a contemplative work in the JeanElton SailVase (SV) Collection. Framed by gestural black arcs, a singular eclipse-like form hovers near the heart of the composition, as if glimpsed through a marsh of wind-swept willows. Bursts of saffron, coral, crimson, and cobalt swirl around the orb like reflections in moving water, creating a moment that feels at once fleeting and eternal.

This piece draws the viewer into a visual meditation—where lines suggest branches or reeds, yet never settle into a single reading. The fluid brushwork and dappled surface evoke the sensation of light filtered through foliage and mist. The soft curvature of the SailVase form deepens the dreamlike quality, cradling the composition with a sense of motion and pause in equal measure.

The work is fired first to approximately 1800 degrees F, after which any remaining fine alterations are made, and the surface treatment is applied by hand by the artist. A second firing to about 2100 degrees F completes the process, ensuring its durability and artistic integrity.

This piece bears the JeanElton signature on its underside and comes with a Certificate of Authenticity (COA), both of which display its catalogue reference.
