The Story of the Work
Winter Halo is a meditative work in the JeanElton TallVase (TV) Collection. With its gently rising form and soft, matte exterior, the piece evokes a winter landscape muted by snowfall. Yet within that stillness, the satin interior radiates a quiet gleam—like a halo of light glimpsed through frozen mist. A single circular portal pierces the undulating rim, suggesting an opening to the sky or the first breach of morning light.
The surface treatment accentuates the contrast between the two finishes: the cool, cloudlike softness of the matte exterior and the inner glow of the subtly reflective satin. This interplay of textures invites a second glance, encouraging contemplation not only of the form but also of the light that plays across it.
The work is fired first to approximately 1800 degrees F, after which any remaining fine alterations are made, and the surface treatment is applied by hand by the artist. A second firing to about 2100 degrees F completes the process, ensuring its durability and artistic integrity.
This piece bears the JeanElton signature on its underside and comes with a Certificate of Authenticity (COA), both of which display its catalogue reference.
