Secrets tangled across the surface
A Featured-scale TallVase finished in a Black & White Line & Form surface treatment, in a Black & Cream color palette. 12 inches tall, 10 inches wide, 9 inches deep, weighing 5 pounds, with a semi-matte interior and a gloss exterior. Line & Form pieces use deliberate linear marks — incisions, applied lines, or directional strokes — to define the visual structure of the piece.

The Story of the Work
An intricate web of marks covers the surface with the density and deliberation of a hand-woven textile, each element interlocking with its neighbors to create a field of pattern that rewards prolonged attention. Light catches the raised and recessed areas differently as the eye circles the form, revealing layers of visual information — a cipher written in texture rather than text.
This work belongs to the JeanElton TallVase Collection, the studio's most prolific family of forms. Rising vertically from a compact footprint, each TallVase presents its hand-painted surface as a continuous panorama — the decoration wrapping fully around the form, revealing new details with every turn. The gentle taper and organic rim give each piece a quiet individuality within a consistent, commanding silhouette.
The work is fired first to approximately 1800 degrees F, after which any remaining fine alterations are made, and the surface treatment is applied by hand by the artist. A second firing to about 2100 degrees F completes the process, ensuring its durability and artistic integrity.
This piece bears the JeanElton signature on its underside and comes with a Certificate of Authenticity (COA), both of which display its catalogue reference.
