The Story of the Work
Colors carousel at carnival heights. The largest and most commanding of the Ferris_Wheel family, this wide, nearly-cubic piece wraps its carnival spirit across an expansive surface. Registers of color — red, cobalt, orange, and lime — alternate and layer like the lit gondolas of a turning wheel seen from below, the whole composition a sustained and generous act of celebration.
This work belongs to the JeanElton TallVase Collection, the studio's most prolific family of forms. Rising vertically from a compact footprint, each TallVase presents its hand-painted surface as a continuous panorama — the decoration wrapping fully around the form, revealing new details with every turn. The gentle taper and organic rim give each piece a quiet individuality within a consistent, commanding silhouette.
The work is fired first to approximately 1800 degrees F, after which any remaining fine alterations are made, and the surface treatment is applied by hand by the artist. A second firing to about 2100 degrees F completes the process, ensuring its durability and artistic integrity.
This piece bears the JeanElton signature on its underside and comes with a Certificate of Authenticity (COA), both of which display its catalogue reference.
