Portal to Palladium I
Palladium gleam, quiet and luminous.
A Compact-scale TallVase finished in a Metallic & Cream Line & Form surface treatment, in a Metallic & Cream color palette. 9 inches tall, 11 inches wide, 7 inches deep, weighing 4 pounds, with a gloss interior and a matte exterior. Line & Form pieces use deliberate linear marks — incisions, applied lines, or directional strokes — to define the visual structure of the piece.

The Story of the Work
Portal to Palladium returns to the threshold concept — a form that opens inward to reveal something precious and unexpected — but here the interior glows with palladium rather than gold, its surface cool and luminous where gold would be warm. The contrast with the cream exterior is subtler, more restrained, the gleam quieter and more interior in feel, as if the light within were contemplating itself.
The Precis_Metallic&Cream surface treatment defines its pieces through contrast: a smooth, matte cream exterior — quiet, grounded, almost self-effacing — set against an interior finished in gold or palladium that catches the light and holds it. The two surfaces occupy different registers entirely, and it is the dialogue between them that gives each piece in this treatment its distinctive character: the restraint of the exterior makes the luminosity within feel like a discovery.
The work is fired first to approximately 1800 degrees F, after which any remaining fine alterations are made, and the surface treatment is applied by hand by the artist. A second firing to about 2100 degrees F completes the process, ensuring its durability and artistic integrity.
This piece bears the JeanElton signature on its underside and comes with a Certificate of Authenticity (COA), both of which display its catalogue reference.
