Celestial Script

Celestial Script is a quietly mesmerizing work whose dark matte surface serves as a night sky onto which an unknown language has been inscribed. Concentric circles, spiraling arcs, and scattered dots of blue, magenta, and gold emerge from the black ground like constellations mapped by an ancient hand. The marks feel both deliberate and mysterious — part astronomical chart, part private notation system — inviting the viewer to search for patterns and meaning across the curved surface. The matte finish deepens the sense of infinite space, each symbol hovering against the darkness as if illuminated from within.

This work belongs to the JeanElton TallVase Collection, the studio's most prolific family of forms. Rising vertically from a compact footprint, each TallVase presents its hand-painted surface as a continuous panorama — the decoration wrapping fully around the form, revealing new details with every turn. The gentle taper and organic rim give each piece a quiet individuality within a consistent, commanding silhouette.

The work is fired first to approximately 1800 degrees F, after which any remaining fine alterations are made, and the surface treatment is applied by hand by the artist. A second firing to about 2100 degrees F completes the process, ensuring its durability and artistic integrity.

This piece bears the JeanElton signature on its underside and comes with a Certificate of Authenticity (COA), both of which display its catalogue reference.
