The Story of the Work
Flames of orange burst against the midnight sky: Midnight Blooms captures nature’s energy in a bold and dramatic display. Vivid, hand-painted blossoms in fiery orange unfurl their petals against a deep black background, their delicate green leaves curling in graceful movement. Electric zigzags, playful dots, and crosshatch textures add a dynamic rhythm to the composition, balancing structure with spontaneity.
Inside, a rich matte violet interior offers a striking contrast, drawing the eye inward to its depth and mystery. The surface treatment is entirely matte, enhancing the vibrancy of the colors while lending a soft, tactile quality to the piece.
The work is fired first to approximately 1800 degrees F, after which any remaining fine alterations are made, and the surface treatment is applied by hand by the artist. A second firing to about 2100 degrees F completes the process, ensuring its durability and artistic integrity.
