Yellow Daisy

Yellow daisies are among the most democratically beloved of flowers, and in JeanElton's hands they become the vehicle for a kind of pure chromatic joy. The blooms are rendered with characteristic gestural freedom — not the stiffness of illustration but the aliveness of observation, each petal capturing the particular way a daisy turns its face toward available light. The yellow here is worked through the full register of the hue, from cool lemon to warm gold, giving the composition a vibrational quality: the sum of many yellows, which is somehow more than the color itself.

The Prism_Flowers surface treatment brings JeanElton's own expressive interpretation of floral imagery to the ceramic canvas — not botanical illustration, but flowers rendered as pure color and energy. The work is fired first to approximately 1800 degrees F, after which any remaining fine alterations are made, and the surface treatment is applied by hand by the artist. A second firing to about 2100 degrees F completes the process, ensuring its durability and artistic integrity.
