Passage to Purple II

Passage to Purple traces a journey through the cooler registers of the botanical palette — lavender petals, violet shadows, and deep purple blooms unfolding against a dusky, darkened ground. The floral motifs are rendered with a delicacy that softens the bold color contrasts, each blossom yielding gently into the surrounding twilight tones. The purple-toned exterior deepens the mood, creating a piece that feels both lush and contemplative.

This work belongs to the JeanElton TallVase Collection, the studio's most prolific family of forms. Rising vertically from a compact footprint, each TallVase presents its hand-painted surface as a continuous panorama — the decoration wrapping fully around the form, revealing new details with every turn. The gentle taper and organic rim give each piece a quiet individuality within a consistent, commanding silhouette.

The work is fired first to approximately 1800 degrees F, after which any remaining fine alterations are made, and the surface treatment is applied by hand by the artist. A second firing to about 2100 degrees F completes the process, ensuring its durability and artistic integrity.
