Secret Garden

Secret Garden is a meditative work in the JeanElton TallVase (TV) Collection. Vertical bands of black and white rise like stylized ironwork or shafts of sunlight through a garden gate, offering a dramatic backdrop for the hand-painted orange blossoms that push upward with quiet determination. Each petal is rendered with delicate attention, suggesting not just beauty, but resilience—nature asserting itself within the confines of structure.

The upper edge undulates like a garden wall softened by time, and a single circular portal punctuates the composition, inviting the viewer to peek through—to wonder what lies beyond. This portal becomes more than a design element; it acts as a visual invitation into a private world just beyond the surface.

The matte black interior deepens the mystery and contrasts beautifully with the vibrant exterior, further reinforcing the piece’s theme of contrast and revelation. This is a work that invites lingering attention and rewards it with layers of discovery.

The work is fired first to approximately 1800 degrees F, after which any remaining fine alterations are made, and the surface treatment is applied by hand by the artist. A second firing to about 2100 degrees F completes the process, ensuring its durability and artistic integrity.

This piece bears the JeanElton signature on its underside and comes with a Certificate of Authenticity (COA), both of which display its catalogue reference.
