Calm II

Stillness edged by a ripple: Calm is a meditative work in the JeanElton TallVase (TV) Collection. Its gently tapered form, wrapped in a soft matte black surface, conjures the quiet surface of a shaded inlet. A single band of muted gold flows horizontally around the midsection like sunlight brushing across still water. At the rim, a brief flourish of undulation breaks the uniformity—an echo of wind or distant motion—before serenity is restored.

Both the interior and exterior are finished in matte, deepening the sense of stillness and grounding. The form invites contemplation, offering a visual and tactile pause—elegant and restrained, yet full of presence.

The work is fired first to approximately 1800 degrees F, after which any remaining fine alterations are made, and the surface treatment is applied by hand by the artist. A second firing to about 2100 degrees F completes the process, ensuring its durability and artistic integrity.

This piece bears the JeanElton signature on its underside and comes with a Certificate of Authenticity (COA), both of which display its catalogue reference.
