The Story of the Work
Spring Band is a gentle yet lively work in the JeanElton TallVase (TV) Collection. A band of alternating blue and green squares traces the undulating rim, suggesting a playful rhythm just beginning to form—like wind rippling across the first warm day of spring. The soft chartreuse interior echoes the early green of new shoots, while the smooth matte white exterior keeps the overall tone quiet and clean.
The vase’s shape is subtly irregular, enhancing its hand-formed identity, and inviting both visual and tactile engagement. The contrast between interior and exterior—between the freshness within and the purity without—offers a sense of seasonal awakening, captured in ceramic form.
The work is fired first to approximately 1800 degrees F, after which any remaining fine alterations are made, and the surface treatment is applied by hand by the artist. A second firing to about 2100 degrees F completes the process, ensuring its durability and artistic integrity.
This piece bears the JeanElton signature on its underside and comes with a Certificate of Authenticity (COA), both of which display its catalogue reference.
