The Story of the Work
There are collisions in nature that never fully settle — tidal surges meeting dark coastline, light fracturing through deep water, storm fronts suspended at the moment of greatest tension. Aurora Pulse renders one such collision in glaze. Cerulean teal erupts across an expanse of creamy white, neither color yielding to the other, both held in perpetual, electric suspension. Scattered across the surface, delicate dot impressions emerge like bioluminescent organisms caught mid-pulse, adding a cellular intimacy to a composition of otherwise turbulent scale. The interior — a luminous, unbroken pool of cerulean teal — offers the storm its still and secret center.
This work belongs to the JeanElton TallVase Collection, characterized by its generous upward form and distinctively sculpted, undulating rim. The scalloped crown of Aurora Pulse does not merely finish the piece — it participates in it, echoing the restless energy of the surface below while simultaneously framing the serene interior above. The form's broad, open profile invites the eye downward into that calm teal depth, creating a dialogue between turbulence and repose that defines the work at every angle.
The work is fired first to approximately 1800 degrees F, after which any remaining fine alterations are made, and the surface treatment is applied by hand by the artist. A second firing to about 2100 degrees F completes the process, ensuring its durability and artistic integrity.
This piece bears the JeanElton signature on its underside and comes with a Certificate of Authenticity (COA), both of which display its catalogue reference.
