Gilded radiance! The interior of this piece glows with a warm, luminous gold — a hand-applied metallic surface that shifts from pale amber to deep bronze as it catches the light. Where the gold meets the rim, it spills just over the edge, tracing the undulating contour like gilding on the lip of a chalice. The cream matte exterior stands in quiet contrast, soft and velvety, letting the interior do all the speaking.

What gives this piece its sculptural authority is the form of the UnfurlingPedestal — a shape that rises from a tapered base and opens outward in a sweep of undulating edges, like a blossom caught in the act of opening. Each piece is unique: the rim curls and dips differently every time, giving every UnfurlingPedestal its own silhouette. At roughly a foot across and only a few inches tall, the form is intimate in scale but bold in presence — it commands a tabletop, a mantel, or a shelf the way a single perfect bloom commands a vase.

The work is fired first to approximately 1800 degrees F, after which any remaining fine alterations are made, and the surface treatment is applied by hand by the artist. A second firing to about 2100 degrees F completes the process, ensuring its durability and artistic integrity.
